Defenders of Leningrad
Now that I'm home in Moscow, I thought I'd post some photos of my recent trip to St. Petersburg. While the "White Nights" photos will be coming shortly, I'll start with some shots of the Monument to the Defenders of Leningrad, one of the most moving war memorials I've found in the former USSR.

If you haven't been yet, visit the cemetary in Piscaryovka where most of the victims from the blockade are buried.
Whenever I become frustrated with Russia, and Russians, I go there and am reminded that a firm resolve and unwavering determination is what kept many more alive.
